Marriage Devotional: Traveling Spouse

Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you.
Be our strength every morning, our salvation in times of distress.
Isaiah 33:2

Waking up in the morning is different without my spouse. Not bad. Not good. Different. I can stretch out like a starfish, steal his pillows, and smash the snooze button as many times as I like. On the other hand, he’s not here. On his side of the trip he’s getting settled in, attending meetings, finding the strongest wifi spots, and testing the hotel pool. We’re both busy; both keeping occupied. Trying our best to stay connected and positive. Then the wifi goes out and our call is disconnected…

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you so much for your grace and love that you have given us through Jesus. Also, thank you for your Holy Spirit gifts that guide us. I pray that this time apart will give my husband and I, both the opportunity to reconnect with YOU. I pray that we lean on you when we get frustrated. I pray that each day we rise with you on our hearts to start these days apart with strength in you. Forgive us when we fail to prioritize our relationship with you and with each other. Help us be better in our walks. I also ask that you continue to give us the strength and boldness to share your love with others. In Jesus’s name. AMEN.
