Marriage Devotional: Traveling Spouse

Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:28-31

Today I think about those marriages that are separated not by choice. Spouses that experience separation because of military duties; loved ones that are imprisoned unjustly;  spouses who’ve hardened their hearts and are in the midst of a marital separation or divorce. There is still hope in the Lord but when we are tired, stressed, or lonely it’s difficult to see that we are loved and cared for by a Father.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for all the ways you love us. Today I want to lift up to You all those who are longing for their spouse. I pray that you bring them supports who You can move through to take care of their needs and fill their hearts with the love from your Spirit and Christ. I pray that you not only take care of their day to day needs but that you strengthen their spirit and confidence in You. I also pray that you are with the spouse who is away, and that you are moving in their lives as well. I pray that You use them to glorify Your plans and reveal to them Your glory. I pray that you wrap your arms around these marriages to renew hope and strength during these trials! I ask all these things in the name of Your Son, Jesus, AMEN.
