Now then, you Congressmen clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? But now as for what is inside you—be generous to the poor, and everything will be clean for you.
Shame to you Congressmen, because you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.
Shame to you Congressmen, because you love the most important seats in the Senate and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.
Shame to you, because you are like unmarked graves, which people walk over without knowing it and have no idea of the corruption that’s a few inches beneath their feet.
And you experts in the law, shame to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.
Shame to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering.
Whelp, I signed up to RUN for RUNAWAY youth. I’m running a 10K in the Crescent City Classic in New Orleans. I have a fundraising goal of only $200 and I would love to bust through that number!
I’ve been volunteering at Covenant House since June. They provide a safe haven for homeless, runaway, and at-risk youth (ages 22 and under). They have provided over 20,000 kids with food, shelter, clothing, medical care, educational & vocational support, individual & family counseling, job readiness & placement, short & long-term housing, life skills, and more. I’ve seen firsthand how big their hearts are for the youth of New Orleans. Read more

Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 1 Corinthians 7:33

Since meeting my goal to read all the books of the Bible*, I’ve been asking, “Where should I start next?” God answered me in so many ways. First, I attended an IF:Local Mandeville/Northshore at St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church. This year’s IF:Gathering dove into the Book of John. Then the following Sunday at Vintage Church the message “Big Easy Jesus: I am the bread” focused on John 6:25-69. And finally, in conversation with a friend, she casually mentioned that she was reading through John this Lent Season.
Ok, God… Got it! John it is… Read more

“For a brief moment I abandoned you,
but with deep compassion I will bring you back.
In a surge of anger
I hid my face from you for a moment,
but with everlasting kindness
I will have compassion on you,”

The man who finds a wife finds a treasure,
and he receives favor from the Lord.
A quarrelsome wife is like the dripping
of a leaky roof in a rainstorm;
restraining her is like restraining the wind
or grasping oil with the hand.
She [A wife of noble character] speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
[Husbands] Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Dear Heavenly Father,
You are so awesome in power and love. There is no God like you in heaven and earth. You love us so much you keep your promises, especially the gift of forgiveness and grace through your Son, Jesus. Jesus who came through King David’s lineage, just as you promised through prophesy.
Dear Lord please continue to dwell on earth and in our hearts. Please continue to fill us with your Spirit and guide us with Jesus’s teachings. Anywhere that your people gather to worship and praise you, I pray that you hear those prayers. Bless the people who cry out to you!
Dear Lord, you are just. Please be with the innocent who are hurt by their fellow man, their neighbor. I also pray for people who have turn their back on you; that they will come back with a humble heart so they can experience the enormous amount of love in your forgiveness. Teach us the right way we should live to honor you and love each other.
In Jesus’s name, Amen.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I praise and thank you for all you have done from the small miracles of breath you give me each morning I awake to the amazing mountain moving miracles of healing broken hearts, sick bodies, and giving us your Son Jesus, our Savior. I sing out praises to you and all the wonderful and mysterious ways you create. My heart rejoices and overflows with all the ways you love me, each day and in each moment, directly and through other people who you have filled with your joy and love. I will continue to look to you for strength and perseverance and I will continue to look for you in all of your creation.
An 8 year old boy was struck by a stray AK-47 Bullet in St. Thomas Community. My husband’s heart was broken and then set on fire. I’ve been able to watch God show Himself to us and just how big He is! First, God put Corey Hicks in our path and so the three of us met for lunch. Corey is the founder of Urban Reach. The calling gained clarity. We were going to do a community outreach by providing a fun family friendly environment to allow Jesus to overflow our hearts and love on the city. Peace, Love, & Hope Fest: Restoring Faith in the City. Music. Free Water. A Bouncy House. Face painting. Simple. We had a few weeks to put it together. Read more
